Budget is a trading name of BISL Ltd. based in Peterborough and is one of UK’s leading brokers specialising in home insurance. They are an independent intermediary introducing customers to a selected panel of leading home insurers which allows them to offer competitive quotes for most circumstances. Budget pride themselves on their ability to customise the policy to your individual needs and can arrange immediate low cost buildings cover, together with 'new for old' cover on home contents including accidental damage cover for your PC, TV, Video, DVD and Hi-Fi player. They can arrange policies with bicycle cover up to £2,000 and frozen food cover in the case of freezer breakdown.

Their principle is that you buy only the cover you want, and Budget will arrange special discounts if your home is in a Neighbourhood Watch area, if all of your doors and windows are secured with approved locks or if you have a NACOSS approved home security system installed. Further generous discounts can be applied to your home insurance premium if you haven’t made any claims.

Their online quotation assumes that the property to be insured is in the UK (including Northern Ireland), and that is not a houseboat, a mobile home or a single room/bedsit. It also assumes that no-one resident at the property address has ever been convicted of (or charged with and awaiting trial for) any crime, except motoring offences, has ever been declared bankrupt or had home insurance cancelled by the insurer, refused or had special terms or conditions imposed by the insurance company in the last 5 years. If you can’t comply with these assumptions they will probably be able to provide a competitive quote but you will need to call their helpline to obtain a personal quotation.

In addition to the peace of mind gained through appropriate home insurance Budget can also arrange Emergency Home Assistance cover for homeowners. This cover provides assistance when an emergency requiring urgent repair affects your home. They will pay up to £250 for parts, labour and call-our charge incurred through their authorised contractors. Emergencies covered include blockage, breakage, flooding or damage to your drains or plumbing, failure of the main heating system, failure of your domestic electricity or gas supply (except failure of the mains supply) and complete loss of function of a toilet unit due to a mechanical failure of the toilet bowl or cistern. Their contractors, who are available 365 days a year will ensure that they prevent further damage to your home, make it safe and secure and reduce unreasonable discomfort, risk or difficulty.

Also available is their Family Legal Protection which is designed to help you through difficult and often stressful legal situations by providing you with a 24 hour legal advice helpline and financial support. Where possible they will negotiate full settlement of your claim outside the courts or refer to an appropriate solicitor for matters including employment disputes, contract disputes, injury claims, property protection, tax protection and employee’s legal defence.
